Why is it important to trust a funeral home that is owned and operated by a family right here in your community?
Did you know that many funeral homes are owned by large corporations, with headquarters thousands of miles away? We've been a family-owned and operated funeral home for the past 40 years and are currently the only locally owned funeral home in Hastings.
Local family ownership means more caring service, and more personal involvement in fulfilling your commemorative needs and desires.
Brief History:
Founded in 1893 by the Waldorff family and later purchased by the Girrbach family in 1966. The Girrbach family has been in the funeral service since the early 1900s.
The current owner, Ray Girrbach, is a third generation funeral director. Ray attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, IL., graduated in 1979, and took over the family business.
Ray has been a member of the Hastings Kiwanis club for the past 25 years. He is an active member of the community and has served on the board of directors for various organizations such as United Way, Chamber of Commerce, and Barry Community Hospice. He is a member of the Hastings Chamber of Commerce, National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), Federated Funeral Directors of America, Michigan Funeral Directors Association (MFDA) and the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA).
