Albert Dashiell Grover, known to his friends as Al, passed away on February 15, 2009, at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila (Cornell); his parents Clyde and Louise Grover; and his sisters, Eleanor Barns and Jean Merrick. \r
A native of California, Al moved to Michigan in 1946 where he and his wife were married and built the Al-O-Ray Motel in Thompson, Michigan. In 1955, they moved to Lowell. A few years later, they bought and operated Fairchild Oil Company. \r
A veteran of World War II, Al was proud to have served in the United States Navy from December 1940 until his honorable discharge in December 1946. \r
Al leaves behind two daughters: Judy (Charles) Stewart of Green Valley, Arizona and Louise (William) Bouck; six grandchildren, Sheila (Don) Dubbink, Alan (Anne) Huver, Sharon (Ken) Morris, Robert (Jane) Huver of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Amber Bouck and Brandy Bouck; eight great grandchildren, Stacy and Tony Dubbink, Tyler and Taryn Morris, Hunter and Pyper Fenton and Kennedy and Kaia Zimmerman; several nieces and nephews; and many good friends. \r
The family wishes to extend its sincere thanks to the A.C.E. unit at Spectrum Health, Bodgett, Dr. John Maurer and West Michigan Heart for their special care of our loved one.\r
A private internment will be held Friday at the Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery.\r
