Aleksandra Vilde

Aleksandra ""Sandy"" Vilde, age 96 of Hastings passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Magnum Care Nursing Home. She was born February 20, 1914 in Valmiera, Latvia, the daughter of Janis and Elza (Kalnins) Jansons. \r
Mrs. Vilde retired with special honors after 25 years of service as Barry County probate register in 1980. She was cited for the outstanding manner in which she devoted her energies to the greater good of the commonwealth and to the entire state of Michigan. After retirement, Mrs. Vilde traveled to California to visit her son, daughter and grandchildren. In 1991 Latvia, her homeland, became independent from the Soviet Union. Thereafter, she spent all her summers in Latvia up until 2007. \r
Mrs. Vilde enjoyed sewing, crocheting and writing for the entire family. She was a member of the Grand Rapids Latvian Lutheran Church. \r
Mrs. Vilde was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard Vilde, her sister, Maiga Klavenieks from Australia and her brother, Paul Jansons of Hastings, MI. \r
She is survived by her son, George Udris of California, daughter, Ilze Dionis of Hastings, MI, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.\r
Memorial contributions may be made to Commission on Aging, 320 W Woodlawn Ave., Hastings, MI 49058.\r
Memorial services will be held, Sunday, November 7, 2010, 11:00am at the Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings. Reverend Carla Smith will be officiating the service.\r
