Alfred (Alfie) Vincent

Alfred (Alfie) Vincent, age 77, has found his place in Heaven. He passed away at Pennock Hospital in Hastings, Michigan on January 19, 2013 with a caring nurse at his side.

Alfie was born on October 23, 1935 in Tecumseh, Michigan. He often talked of the farm he grew up on, with his fondest memories including the "ponies" he used to drive on the farm. He became a resident of Barry County in the early 1980's, living in Delton, Middleville, and Hastings at various times. Alfie was employed by Barry County Transit from June 1997 until his retirement in July 2011. He worked in Bus Maintenance and also was the self-proclaimed assistant mechanic to his special friend, Dan. The busses in Barry County were sparkling clean for over a decade because of Alfie's hard work and pride in a job well done.

Alfie was well-known by many residents of Barry County and counted his closest friends to be those that attended Positive Directions with him. There he spent many hours tending gardens, and enjoying outings with staff and peers. He was a kind man, who always had a smile, and was always willing to assist anyone that asked for his help. If you wanted to make him happy, you just needed to place a fishing pole in his hand. Alfie loved dogs, horses, and motorcycles and often talked of owning his own motorcycle one day.

Alfie will be dearly missed by those that knew him best, including BCCMHA staff, past and present, and also a large number of friends and past co-workers. His smile, with a point of the finger, as he said, "You" will be sadly missed by those that he greeted in this way.
