Barbara Anne Caris

Barbara A. Avery Caris, 60, of Hastings, Michigan entered rest with her Savior on November 6, 2020.

Barb was born in Lombard, Illinois July 19, 1960 to the late William Avery, Sr. and the late Betty Avery.

She was also preceded in death by her stepmother Bonnie Avery, brother Bart Avery and stepson Doug Skinner.

She is survived by her husband, Roger, and grandchildren, Mikenna and Kenny, as well as daughter Kahla Avery, and nephew James Avery who Barb loved like a son. She also leaves behind three brothers, William Avery, Jr. and Berry Avery of Hastings, Bob (Karen) Avery of Wickliffe, Kentucky, and stepsister Pam (Dave) Wagley of Brownsburg, Indiana. She also leaves behind her stepchildren Bill Skinner, Paul (Katie) Skinner. Susie (Ed) McKeough, Teresa (Jim) Sheldon, Roger (Melissa) Caris, and several step-grandchildren and great grand children, nephew, Rob Jones, as well as many of other friends and family members who loved her deeply.

Barb will lovingly be remembered for her generosity as well as her compassion for those in need, especially the many foster children who found safety and respite in the Caris home. Barb loved to spend time camping and riding 4-wheelers with her husband and grandchildren. She inherited a love of cooking from her parents, and shared that passion with all of her siblings. Barb was employed by Barry County Transit for 38 years and also worked at the Hastings Fire Department in various roles for 21 years.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 15 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Monday, November 16 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hastings Fire Department in Barb's memory are encouraged.
