Barbara Christine Maitner Earl, age 55 of Hastings, passed away, Sunday January 8, 2017 at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Barbara was born on May 7, 1961 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of George B. and Betty M. (Clifford) Maitner.
Barb attended Kenowa High School, graduating in 1979. She worked for Michigan National Bank as a key punch operator from 1979 to 1985. Barb's career as a purchasing agent, as well as many other positions, began in 1987 at the Grabber Corporation, where she worked for 24 years. Barb was awarded Employee of the Year in 2010 and received a trip to Hawaii. Most recently Barb worked for Acrisure as an accounting associate and loved her job there, as well.
Barb married Cameron Earl on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii on October 10, 2010 at 10:00 am in the morning. This began their endless, incredible love affair.
Barb loved to crochet and has made many afghans for all the new babies that came into her life. There were many family and friends that were lucky to receive a piece of her artwork, which is what her afghans truly were. Barb loved playing games on her laptop, especially Candy Crush, where she had attained level 1842.
Barb had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh, that could make other's laugh along with her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her loving husband, Cam.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, George and Betty Maitner, brother, George Mainter and brother-in-law, George Davis.
She is survived by her husband, Cameron Earl of Hastings, step-daughters, Cami Earl and Bobbi Earl of Hastings, grandson, Toryn Hills of Hastings, sister, Karen Davis of Grand Rapids, brother, Mark (Diane) Maitner of Grand Rapids, sister, Julia (Steve) Rodgers of Brantley, Alabama, sister in-law Dianne Maitner and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Barb's last giving effort will benefit over 70 lives through the Gift of Life Foundation. She will be remembered forever.
Friends and Family may gather on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm for a Visitation period at the Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings. A Celebration of Life Service will follow visitation at 2:00 pm. Pastor Andrew Courtright will officiate the service. Following the service, there will be a luncheon at the American Legion Post 45 located at 2160 M-37, Hastings, MI 49058.
