Betty Ruth Highsmith

Betty R. Highsmith age 82 of Lake County Florida, passed away October 3, 2010 at Pennock Hospital in Hastings, Michigan. She was born in Upton County Georgia, the daughter of Charles and Aileen (Mertis) Dean. Betty's family worked for carnivals for many years. She married James Franklin Highsmith on April 5, 1948 and they were married for 59 years. He later passed away in 2007. Betty worked for and retired from Lescoa Company in Middleville, MI. After retirement she moved to Florida. Betty loved being with her family, cooking, playing cards and visiting with friends. She was a past member of Eastern Stars American Legion. \r
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Highsmith, parents, a sister, Patsy Joiner, and son in-law Buckshot McGhee. She is survived by her daughters; Janie McGhee of Harrison, MI, Gloria Noyce and Linda Highsmith of Hastings, MI, sons; Richard (Cheryl) Highsmith of Daytona, FL, Gale (Cherry) Highsmith of North Carolina, grandchildren; Angela Groom, Amy Elliott, Jill Newton, Jason Newton, Jennifer Dezos, Brad Cummings, Brandy Highsmith, great-grandchildren; Alexis, Amy Jacob, Josh, Scott, Jaylon, Jannah, Wayne, Elizabeth, Linda and Johnaton. \r
Memorial contributions may be made to Pennock Hospice, 1108 W. State St., Hastings, MI 49058.\r
Memorial services will be held at a later date.\r
Arrangements are by the Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings. \r
