Beverly (Blackford) Sharai went home to be with her Lord on June 4, 2023.
Born Beverly Jean Sharai July 9, 1938, in Hastings, Michigan, and adopted at birth to James and Martha (Foley) Blackford. She is preceded in death by her natural and adopted parents, stepmother Marion (Hayner-Oversmith) Blackford, and stepfather Richard T. Black.
Beverly lived in Hastings, Michigan for 23 years and the rest of her life in Battle Creek, Michigan. She was a graduate of Lakeview High School Adult Education and received a two-year scholarship to Kellogg Community College. She also completed Wrights Beauty and Cosmetology School.
Beverly was employed at several restaurants and drugstores in Hastings and Battle Creek. She worked at Kellogg's Package Division from 1959-1971, leaving to be a full-time mother. From 1992-1997 she was employed at Oakview Adult Foster Care in Hastings. She moved to Urbandale in 1997 and was employed at the Urbandale McDonald's Restaurant, retiring Christmas Eve 2003. On December 29, 2003, she moved to Bedford Manor Apartments.
Both marriages to Merritt A. Pierce (father of their daughters) and Donald C. Parkin ended in divorce.
Beverly is survived by daughters Pam (Brian) Ferris, Penny (Kevin) Villadsen, Beverly (Dennis) Brown and Beth (Robert) Brown, ten grandchildren and their families and nine great-grandchildren, stepsister Connie (Oversmith) Smith, stepbrother Terry R. Oversmith and four nephews and their families. She is also survived by several dear cousins and special friends.
She enjoyed the holidays with her family whenever she could. She enjoyed Christian television programs, reading, crocheting, word searches and going out to eat, especially spaghetti. She loved her snowman collection and her Lord.
