William "Bill" Paulsen, age 93, of Middleville, Michigan passed away on September 28, 2019 at Carveth Village. Bill was born on February 1, 1926 in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Orville W. and Matilda N. (Smith) Paulsen. He attended Lansing Eastern High School, graduating in 1944.

Bill worked as a real estate broker and general manager for Warner and Long. He was also part owner and general manager of Salty Dog Motor Lodge in Marathon Shores, Florida. He proudly served in WW II from 1944-1946 on South Pacific Destroyers (DD-527, DD-580). Bill enjoyed travelling and fishing. He served as Past Commodore (1978) of the Marathon Yacht club. He was a life member of the VFW and DAV and belonged to the American Legion and Elks (B.P.O.E.).

Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Betty Paulsen, his parents, sisters Beverly, Barbara, Marilyn and Carole, brothers Gerald and Robert, and Grandson Wayne Tolles.

He is survived by his daughters Nancy Kay (Mark) Adams of Middleville, MI, Patricia A (Trish) Tolles of Denver, CO, and Brandi J. Vetanze of Denver, son Edward L. Varney of Denver, grandson Alan (Shirley) Tolles of Juneau, AK, granddaughters Dana Kay (Greg) Myers of Caledonia, MI, and Tracee Lynn Jankoviak of Grand Rapids, MI, great-grandsons Alex Tolles of Juneau, Connor Myers of Caledonia, William Tolles of Juneau, great-granddaughter Mackenzie Myers of Caledonia, and also three special friends, Dorothy Barlow of Middleville, Carolyn Mayer of Hastings, and Don Fox of Florida.

Respecting his wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in honor of Bill Paulsen. Arrangements by Girrbach Funeral Home.
