Billy Joe Hays, age 86 of Hastings, passed peacefully at Pennock Hospital on December 14, 2017.
Bill was born on May 25, 1931 in Batesville, Arkansas. The son of Walter and Edna Hays and brother to 12 siblings. He grew up in Clarkton, MO. He served in the Marines from 1951 to 1953, during the Korean War.
In 1954 Bill married Marian Blaylock, and they were married for 37 years, until her passing in 1992. Bill was a heardsman and farmer in Michigan. He spent his retirement years in Hastings.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Mary and granddaughter, Danielle Lynnne Hays.
He is survived by his sons: Scott (Stephanie) Hays and Randy (Robin ) Hays. Grandsons: Lee (Jamie) Hays, Logan (Christina) Hays, and Connor (Shannon) Hays, 5 great grandchildren, Hunter, Heath, Madison, Aubrey, and Elijah.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Commission on Aging or the Humane Society.
Respecting Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will take place at a later date.
