Christina Marie Lovisa, age 63 of Grand Rapids, passed away June 10, 2016 at Magnum Care in Hastings.
Christina was born on November 23, 1952 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of Carl Jacob Velte Jr. and Alice Georgina Dempsey. She graduated from Union High School in 1969.
Christina married Peter Anthony Lovisa on August 5, 1978. She spent most of her career in Home Healthcare. Christina worked for several different companies and greatly enjoyed her work. She truly had a huge heart and loved her patients, several became like family to her.
Christina was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church. She enjoyed reading, watching movies, needlepoint, and ceramics, as well as lots of other crafts. She also loved to bake. Christina was extremely passionate about helping those in need, both people and animals.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Anthony Lovisa, brother-in-law, John Lovisa, mother and father-in-law, Gerry and Louis Lovisa.
Christina is survived by her daughter, Adelaide (Nathan) Palmer of Hastings, parents, Carl and Alice Velte of Grand Rapids, granddaughters, Marie and Elena Palmer of Hastings, brothers, Michael, James, Robert and David Velte and their spouses, as well as nieces, nephews and many more loved ones.
A Memorial service will be held on June 23, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 1025 3 Mile Rd., NE, Grand Rapids, MI (3 miles west of Fuller) Visitation will be held from 10 am until 11 am, with the Memorial Service beginning at 11:00 am. Reverand Michael Fedewa will officiate the service. A luncheon will follow at the church.
