David Anthony Cridler, age 58, of Michigan, passed away on December 25, 2025, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was born on May 24, 1967, in Detroit, Michigan.
David graduated from Lakewood High School in Lake Odessa, Michigan. He built a diverse and skilled career, working as a land surveyor with Reynolds Land Surveying, and later with Wightman in Hastings, Michigan. He was a quality inspector for parachutes at Strong Enterprises in Orlando, Florida. His strong work ethic and attention to detail were evident in all he did.
Beyond his professional life, David was a man of many passions. He was a talented woodworker who created beautiful and lasting pieces, and an avid reader with a deep curiosity about the world. David had a lifelong love of music, especially jazz and the most obscure and unconventional genres. He was also known as a good cook who enjoyed sharing meals with others.
David lived boldly and adventurously. He was an accomplished BASE jumper, skydiving instructor, tandem master, and master parachute rigger, embracing life with courage and enthusiasm that inspired those around him.
He is survived by his parents, Wayne and Ardith (Letson) Knop; his children, Jesse Cridler and Trista Cridler; his loving friend, Julie Tilson; his brothers, William Cridler, Robert Knop, and Douglas (Betty) Knop; his sisters, Jolene (Bob) Tingley and Debbie Marshall; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa, Michigan. Visitation will take place Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Hastings.
