David John McIntyre, born January 1, 1938, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of John and Rosemary (Kellogg) McIntyre, passed away on May 15, 2026. He attended school in Kalamazoo, Japan, and Kentucky, graduating from Delton‑Kellogg High School in 1957.
Dave built an extraordinary 65‑year career as a radio broadcaster with WBCH Radio in Hastings, becoming one of the most trusted and familiar voices in Barry County. For years, he informed and entertained listeners with news, sports, weather, and community stories until his retirement in August 2025.
On January 20, 1958, he married the love of his life, Lois Warner, and together they shared 68 wonderful years. Dave was a devoted member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where he served as President of the St. Rose Board of Education and as a member of the Kalamazoo Diocesan Board of Education.
His commitment to community ran deep. Dave served as a Hastings City Council Member for the 3rd Ward, a Board Member of the Barry County Department of Health and Human Services, and an operator of the National Weather Service Hastings Climatological Weather Station, earning national recognition from NOAA. He was also active with the Nature Board, Silent Observer, and served as a Hastings City Police Ambassador.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Valerie McIntyre. He is survived by his wife, Lois; his children John (Ying) McIntyre, Daniel (Maria) McIntyre, and Cheryl (Thomas) Laws; along with many cherished grandchildren and great‑grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Girrbach Funeral Home, 328 S Broadway, Hastings, MI 49058. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Rose of Lima Church, 805 S Jefferson St, on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
