David Ray Webb, age 71 of Freeport, Michigan, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at his residence.
David was born August 2, 1946 in Hastings, Michigan, the son of Arthur and Beatrice (Hooper) Webb. In his early years he attended one-room schools in the Battle Creek area. He graduated from Pennfield High School, Pennfield, Michigan in 1964.
David honorably served in the U.S. Air Force. He served March 9, 1965 to October 8, 1968, and was honorably discharged at Mtn. Home AFB, Idaho. David retired after 20 years of service from the Michigan ANG, in Battle Creek.
David married Karren Schwartz on July 19, 1967. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this past July.
David volunteered for 20 years for the Freeport Fire Department. He was also a member of the Freeport Historical Society. David enjoyed woodworking, excelled in music and played the coronet and French horn. He played TAPS at many military funerals. He loved nature and gardening and spending time with family.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Beatrice Webb and brother, Robert Webb.
David is survived by his wife, Karren Webb of Freeport, MI, his children, Jackie (Jon) Hawkes of Hastings, Robert (Delana) Webb, of Hastings, Natalie (Junior) Cairns of Middleville, Kimberlie (Troy) Bailey, of Freeport, Sonja (Corey) Harrison, of Middleville, Jennifer (Travis) Martin of Hastings, Mario (Kristy) Webb of Perry, MI, and Troy Webb of Tampa, Florida, 38 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at the Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings.
Burial will follow at Freeport Cemetery with Full military honors by American Legion Post 45 of Hastings and active Airforce personal.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Freeport Historical Society or the Freeport Area Fire Department.
