Dennis Michael Claycomb

Dennis Michael Claycomb, age 75, passed away on May 6, 2026, in Grand Rapids. He was born January 20, 1951, in Ionia, the son of Kenneth and Alice (Esterbrook) Claycomb.

Dennis attended Godwin and Kelloggsville schools and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1969 to 1971. He later worked for 27 years at Steelcase Manufacturing before retiring.

Dennis loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and especially enjoyed taking trips through the Upper Peninsula, where he appreciated the beauty of nature and the open road. He was very proud of his service as a Marine and carried that pride throughout his life.

Known for his “gift of gab,” Dennis never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He also had a special fondness for Bob, his stuffed bear, whom he enjoyed dressing in different outfits, bringing smiles to those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister.

Dennis is survived by his significant other of 34 years, Kathy Engle; Kathy’s daughters, Jamie (Todd) Klecka and Angie (Jeff) Lucas; his sister, Shirley (Joe) Fedewa; his brother, Ronald (Barb) Claycomb; and many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

A private service will be held at a later date.
