Dollie Mae (Hubbard) Larsen of Hastings, Michigan passed away on September 11, 2016, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. The youngest of six children, Dollie was the daughter of Leonidas and Mabel (Boring) Hubbard. She was born in Shepard, Michigan on January 14, 1935 and grew up in Evart, Michigan. She married the love of her life, Karl, in May of 1954. Karl and Dollie made their home in Big Rapids, Michigan, Karl's hometown, until they moved to Hastings in 1961.
Dollie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Karl and brothers; Bobby, Jack, Ray and sister Betty Wall. Her brother George (Bonnie) Hubbard of Lake City still survives. Surviving children are Cindy (Dave) Beckwith, Tim (Cindy) Larsen and Mark (Teresa Kurr) Larsen. Dollie was blessed with six grandchildren; Kristen (James) Evans, Jason (Krista) Tietz, Matt (Sarah) Larsen, Scott (Alicia) Larsen, Courtney (Kaleb) Stonehouse, Alyssa Larsen, Dylan McKay and Drew White. She also was very proud to be great-Grandma to Hunter Tietz, Andrew Larsen, Adalynn Larsen, Jackson Evans and future grandson Zane Stonehouse.
Dollie was employed as a nurse's aide at the Barry County Medical Facility (now Thornapple Manor) for many years while her children were growing up. She also enjoyed being a sales representative for Home Interiors and Gifts for many years, where she made countless friends and helped to decorate many Barry County homes. Dollie enjoyed bowling, golfing and watching her children and grandchildren's sporting and band events. A member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hastings, Dollie was a member of the Altar Guild, User, and Indoor Decorating Committee.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 12:00 noon, with Pastor Paul Kuhlman officiating. Visitation with the family will start one and a half hours (10:30 am) prior to the service. Donations may be made in Dollie's honor to Spectrum Hospice-Grand Rapids (www.hospice@spectrumhealth.org), the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org), or the Hastings Athletic Boosters. The family would like to thank Dollie's many special friends and neighbors for their many visits, cards and support.
