Dolores Eleanor Bleam

Dolores E. Bleam, age 92, of Hastings, Michigan, passed away on October 3, 2023, at Woodlawn Meadows of Hastings.  Dolores was born in Freeport Michigan on May 7, 1931, the daughter of Joseph and Genevieve (McDonnell) Doyle.

Dolores married the love of her life, Arthur Bleam Jr., on June 24, 1950.  They enjoyed 53 years together, until his death in 2003.  Together, Dolores and Art remodeled many houses in Hastings, long before "flipping houses" became a thing.  They took pride in their work and Dolores enjoyed decorating each house.

Dolores was a hard worker all of her life.  She grew up on the family farm in Freeport.  She worked at Goodyear Hardware in Hastings, ran her own daycare, and retired from the State of Michigan after 30 years.  After that, she went to work at St. Rose of Lima Parish as the bookkeeper, retiring from that job at age 80.  She stayed involved in several Boards and enjoyed helping out where she could.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Arthur, her brothers Joe, Don and Kenny, her sisters Gerry and Sharon, and her son in law David Kirby.

She is survived by her children Lorri Kirby of Richland MI, Joseph (Melissa) Bleam of Freeport MI, Grandchildren Scott Kirby of Lansing MI, Caitlin (Jerome Kluck) Kirby of Lansing MI, Logan Bleam of Middleville MI, Ian Bleam of Hastings MI, Austin Bleam of Caledonia MI, Greg Kirby of Hesperia MI, Kelly (Mike) Torian of Broomfield CO, Great grandchildren Polly and Vinny Torian of Broomfield CO, and Charlie Ann Kirby Kluck of Lansing MI, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice.

Visitation will be on Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Girrbach Funeral Home, 328 S Broadway, Hastings, MI 49058.  Funeral Mass will be Monday, October 9, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, 805 S. Jefferson Avenue, Hastings, MI, 49058, interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
