Donald L. Preston age 90 of Freeport, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Woodlawn Meadows in Hastings.
He was born on November 12, 1923 in Allegan County, the son of Arthur and Addah (Hall) Preston. Donald graduated from Freeport School in 1942. He married Mary Ann Pennington on August 26, 1945. She proceeded him in death in 2002.
Donald honorably served in the US Marine Corp, during World War II. He was wounded in Siapon and earned the Purple Heart.
He was employed by the Viking Corporation, retiring in 1987 with 41 years of service.
Donald was a lifelong member of the United Brethren Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers and two sisters.
Donald is survived by his son, Martin S. Preston, daughters, Marla Preston and Donna (Dan) Count, all of Hastings, six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Memorial contribution may be made to Right To Life Educational Fund.
Private family graveside services were held on Monday, December 2, 2013 at Freeport Cemetery with full military honors. Military honors provided by American Legion Post #45 of Hastings and the Active Marines.
Donald will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
