Douglas Brian Woodard, age 49 of Hastings, died unexpectedly on Saturday February 2. 2008 at his residence. Doug was born June 25, 1958 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Alvin O. Woodard and Betty Jean Kader. He attended school at Battle Creek, Pennfield, and in 1996 received his High School Diploma from Delton High School. Doug served in the United States Army from 1976 to 1978. He has spent most of his life working for the union as a Lather, he has worked for many Battle Creek area Construction Companies including, B.C. Shuemann, and Advanced Interiors. Doug was married on May 19, 2001 to Brenda S. Sherk. He was a member of Local Union 1028L, American Legion Post 45, and a former Delton Moose member. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushrooning, and watching nascar, his 2 favorites, Jeff Gordon(24) and Jimmy Johnson(48). He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Strut) Woodard of Hastings, his father and best friend, Al (Becky) Woodard of Delton, 3 sons, Robbie of Hastings, Jake at home and Todd of Battle Creek, 2 daughters, Daddy's Baby, K-O-D Dokey at home, Tiffany, a brother, Nancy (Jeff) & Zippy, Sisters, Wendy (Don), and Darcy, 4 step-brothers, John (Trees), Steven,Michael and Richard (Brenda), 2 special aunts, Aunt Marilyn and Auntie M, mother and father-in-law, Aaron and Jane Sherk, adopted sons, Travis, Nick, Austin, Robert, Nate, and Gary, his birth mother, Betty Kader, many special family and friends. Respecting his wishes no services will be held. Memorials can be made to a Charity of One's Choice. Arrangements are by the Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings.
