Eldon Wayne Cole

Eldon W. Cole, age 91, of Dowling passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Stone Ridge Assisted Living in Dowling.
Eldon was born on December 8, 1923 in Johnstown Township, the son of Ward and Helen (Stevens) Cole. He attended Hastings Schools, graduating in 1941.
Eldon honorably served in the U.S. Navy from April of 1945 to August of 1946. He was a member of the American Legion in Battle Creek, Post 298. Eldon enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time in the Florida sun. He moved to Holmes Beach, Florida in 1988 and returned to the Dowling area in 2014.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, Ward and Helen Cole, brother, Forest Cole, and daughter-in-law, Sue Cole.
He is survived by his son's, Robert (Erna Bowling) Cole of Freeport, and Jack (Jodie) Cole of Dowling, his daughter, Denise (Dan) MacDonald of Battle Creek grandchildren: Meredith Faro, Bob Cole, Andy Cole, Shelby Spring, Darcie Walker and Danyell Myers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or the American Legion of Battle Creek, Post #298.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings. Eldon's funeral service will be held on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Pastor Steve Olmstead will officiate the service. Full Military honors will be conducted by the Hastings American Legion Post 45 and active Navy personal . Interment will take place at Union Cemetery.
