Elwin Harold Wood Jr., affectionately known as "Woody" to his friends and family, passed away peacefully of natural causes on June 19, 2024, in his hometown of Hastings, Michigan.
Woody's journey began in Hastings, where he was born to Elwin and Margie (Krebs) Wood on May 12, 1972. He attended Hastings High School. On May 18, 2013, Woody married the love of his life, Nicole Frazee-Wood, in a ceremony that celebrated their union, following their intimate beach elopement in Florida on November 17, 2012.
Woody was a man of many talents and interests. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to success in various ventures, including restaurant and club development, carnival concessionaire, and precious metals trading and investments. His professional achievements were matched by his commitment to community service, as evidenced by his life membership in the Masonic Lodge, membership in the Eastern Star, and his proud status as an Eagle Scout.
Beyond his business and community involvement, Woody's zest for life was evident in his diverse hobbies. An avid surfer and SCUBA diver, he found solace in the rhythm of the waves and the mysteries of the deep. His love for music was expressed through his skill as a trumpeter, and he embraced the arts with open arms. He was equally adept in the physical disciplines of mixed martial arts and boxing. Woody's passion for collecting extended to coins, watches, and clocks. Travel and adventure were Woody's soulmates, and he reveled in the beauty of ocean sunsets. His annual tradition of attending a University of Michigan Football game with his best friend was a cherished ritual. Woody's optimism was infectious; he was the ever-present optimist, finding humor in the darkest of times. His loyalty and candor were the cornerstones of his character, making him a trusted confidant to many.
Woody's support for his friends and family knew no bounds. He celebrated every achievement, no matter how small, and his heart was always open to those in need. His presence was a source of strength and joy, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Woody was preceded in death by his parents, brothers David, Keith "Bup," and Kenneth Krebs, brother-in-law Merlin Leffel, and great-niece Ashley Leffel, Woody's legacy is carried on by his loving wife of nearly 12 years, Nicole Marie Frazee-Wood of Marne, Mchigan.
