Ethyl Simon, age 87 of Hastings, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2016 at Magnum Care in Hastings.
Ethyl was born on November 20, 1928 in Hastings, Michigan, the daughter of Chester and Mabel Johncock. She attended Hastings High School, graduating in 1947. Ethyl married James Simon on May 25, 1978. She worked for and retired from Hastings Manufacturing.
Ethyl enjoyed crocheting, knitting, crafts, Sudoko, jigsaw puzzles, and anything related to cats. She was a member of Sarah Circle at Grace Lutheran Church. Ethyl's favorite color was purple and her favorite song was Amazing Grace.
Ethyl was preceded in death by her parents Chester and Mabel Johncock (1991 & 1978), husband, James (Jim) Simon (1995) brothers: Kenneth, Donald and Harold Gates and Herbert Johncock, son, Dale Morway (1968)
and daughter, Emily Mark (1964).
She is survived by her children: Gale Morway of Hastings, Linda Hayes of Freeport, two grandchildren: Samantha (Jon) Douglas, John (Mary) Hayes, 5 great-grandchildren, brother, Robert Johncock, three step-children: Anne Simon of Lansing, James Simon of Tooele, UT, and Gary Simon of Lake Worth, TX and special friend, Mary Rider of Hastings.

Friends and family will gather for a one hour visitation period from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at the Grace Lutheran Church, 239 E. North St., Hastings, MI. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 11:00 am, followed by the luncheon. Pastor Paul Kuhlman will officiate the service. Interment will take place at Prairieville Cemetery.
