Evelyn E. McWilliams, age 76 of Hastings, passed away February 10, 2015 at her daughter's home. She was born June 18, 1938, the daughter of Marvin and Mary (Hawkins) Edwards. She attended Hastings high school.
Over the years, Evelyn has worked for Lescoa (1974), Perigo (1995), and Kool's Restaurant in her earlier years.
She married Elmer A. "Al" Wheeler March 1958, and later divorced. Evelyn married Lowell "LD" McWilliams, May of 1966. She was later reunited with the love of her life, Al Wheeler, until his death.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Mary Edwards; sister, Mary Ann Bell; husbands, Al Wheeler and "LD" McWilliams.
She is survived by her daughter, Viola Wheeler Farris; Grandsons Kyle (Lindsey) Farris and Travis Farris and very special great grand daughter Taylor Rose Farris; sister Barbara Westbrook; many nieces and nephews; special sister-in-laws Connie McWilliams and Dodie Dunkelberger; son-in-law Alan Farris; step grandkids and great grandkids Chastity and Chad (Malea) and Kyleigh and Carter Farris; step daughters Kathy (Jimmy) Pebbles, Barbara Hoffman, Carolyn (Gary) Burnett, Judy (John) Hughes along with their kids and grandkids; and many friends.
Evelyn attended TVC church. Evelyn knew no strangers. She loved life and everyone she met. She was a social butterfly and her family always joked about her God given gift to gab. She loved her music and going to dance at Maple Grange and Lake Odessa. Most of all she loved taking care of and spending time with her family and friends, especially with her daughter and grand/great grandkids, so much so she had worn a path to and from her daughter's house.
The family is receiving visitors at Thornapple Valley Church on Saturday, February 14, at 11:00am until service time at 12:00pm. A luncheon will follow the service. Pastor Andrew Courtright will officiate the service.
