Florence (Mickey) Lambert

Florence (Mickey) Lambert, age 94, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Thornapple Manor in Hastings.

She was born May 23, 1917 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of, Martin J. and Florence M. (Kelderhouse) Egeler.

Mickey attended school in Glen Arbor, Michigan, graduating in May 1934. She married Robert "Bob" Lambert on May 29, 1936. Mickey moved to Grand Rapids, working at GM Diesel until 1943, traveling may times to New York to see Bob when he was in port.

She worked at Am. Seating until December 1946 and then moved to Hastings. Mickey and Bob were partners in the East Side Lumber business. In 1962 they purchased Hastings Bowl, where Mickey was very much involved in the bowling business. She loved this job more than any other, retiring in December 1982. Mickey and Bob enjoyed traveling. They lived in Florida for 15 years, returning to Michigan in August of 2001.

Mickey enjoyed bowling and playing bridge with her many friends. She also enjoyed needle point, having had many on display in her home. This was a hobby she took up in 1980 and still enjoyed doing it. Mickey was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Vivians of the Elks, Lady of the Moose and a WIBC member for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Bob; her parents, two sisters: Evelyn (Eugene) Hawley, Virginia (Louis) Egeler, one brother, Martin Egeler Jr., two brother-in-laws: Lewis Groesser and Al Dauenhauer and sister-in-law, Vivian (George) Burrill.

Mickey is survived by two children: Dean (Sonja) Lambert and Susan Jackson, both of Hastings, five grandchildren: Nicole (Chris) Schutter, Kristy Lambert (Blake McCleary), Lindsey (Joe) Miller, Jennifer (Randy) Costello, Matthew (Hiedi) Jackson, eight great grandchildren: Joshua, Jessica, Clarissa, Keely, Alyssa, Anthony, Jaelyn and Riley, sisters: Pauline Dauenhauer of Texas, Charlotte Groesser of Michigan, brother-in-laws: Claude (Sandy) Lambert of Michigan, Roger (Sherry) Lambert of Arizona and many special nieces and nephews.
