Francis Raymond Goggins

Francis Raymond Goggins, age 83 of Hastings, passed away Monday February 16, 2009 at Pennock Hospital in Hastings.\r

He was born December 7, 1925 in Hastings, Michigan the son of James M. and Bertha (Conkle) Goggins. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1943. He then served in the United States Army from 1944 until 1946.\r

Francis married Mary Ellen Kelly September 3, 1949.\r

He worked at the United States Post Office in Hastings for 11 years, Bradford White Co., and Norwest Plumbing and Heating in Grand Rapids where he retired in 1993.\r

Francis was a sports enthusiast, he enjoyed following High School Sports for many years. He was a member of St.Rose of Lima Catholic Church, and former member of Knights of Columbus. He also enjoyed playing the trumpet.\r

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son William in 2003, granddaughter Kelly in 2001 daughter in-law Karen in 1989, brother Kenneth Goggins , 2 sisters, Beatrice Carmondy and Marcella Widerski. \r

Francis is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Mary Ellen Goggins, his children, Robert (JoAnn) Goggins, Nancy Goggins, Daniel (Melissa) Goggins, Tim (Kathryn) Goggins, Mike (Cheryl) Goggins, 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.\r

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-8pm at the Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated Thursday at 11:00an at St. Rose Of Lima Catholic Church in Hastings, with Fr. Alfred J. Russell Celebrant and burial will be at Mt.Calvary Cemetery in Hastings.\r

Memorial contributions can be made to Hastings Athletic Boosters Scholarship Fund.\r
