Francis (Frank) Richard Krol, affectionately known as "Panya" by his family, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, just days after celebrating his 95th birthday. Born in Muskegon Heights, MI, to Anthony and Sophia (Whisneski) Krol, Frank was the third youngest of ten children. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Catholic High School.
A proud veteran, Frank served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After returning home, he earned his Bachelor's degree in education from Western Michigan University. He went on to dedicate most of his career to teaching 2nd and 3rd grade at Richland Elementary in the Gull Lake School System, where he touched countless young lives with his kindness, humor, and dedication.
On August 18, 1962, Frank married the love of his life, Mary Jean Polak. Together they shared 63 beautiful years filled with family, faith, music, and dancing. Frank was a devoted parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and formerly St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kalamazoo, where he sang in the choir and taught Religious Education to children and adults with special needs.
A member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years, Frank's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He found joy in singing, golfing (including a memorable hole-in-one), and dancing with Mary Jean at summer concerts in Hastings.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary Jean; children Joseph (Jacelyn) Krol, Kelli (Mike) Bakhuyzen, and Patrick Krol; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; siblings Virginia Fleming and Anthony Krol; and many nieces and nephews.
