Fredrick J. Newton, born May 31, 1945, in Hastings, Michigan, to Elsworth and Alice Newton, passed away peacefully at his home in Hastings surrounded by his loved ones on December 27, 2025.

Fred was a retired truck driver and proudly served in the United States Navy. He lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and steady kindness. He was known for his generosity, sense of humor, and the support he offered to the people around him.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing horseshoes, and in his younger years liked the excitement of skydiving and motorcycling. Some of his best times were spent with family and friends at the river, sharing simple moments together.

Fred was preceded in death by his sisters, Sandra Wedel and Elizabeth Axel, and his step‑son, Eddie Adam. He will be deeply missed and remembered with love.

He is survived by his life partner, Carrie Adam; step‑children Louis (Susan), Jennifer, Heather (Dan), Jesse (Ashley), and Anthony (Brittany); his daughter, Deanna (Pete) Vandenbroeck; grandchildren, Kevin, Abigail, Summer, Jesse, Melaina, Elwin, Izzy, Harvey, Kooper, and Adalynn; and nieces Kathy Berg, Sherry (Mike) Shirley, and Christine Axel.

A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 3:00–5:00 PM at Girrbach Funeral Home, 328 S Broadway, Hastings, MI 49058.
