Frederick Oscar Wurm passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, in Hastings, Michigan. Fred was born on February 23, 1931, in Hope Township, Michigan, the son of Oscar and Laura (Terpening) Wurm.
Fred was a 1949 graduate of Hastings High School. Answering the call of duty, Fred served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Fred enjoyed a long career working as a machinist at EW Bliss until his retirement.
Fred married his first love, Sharon (Klevorn) Wurm, on December 5, 1954, and they shared great happiness until her passing in 1970. He found love again, and married Marian (Jones) Wurm on October 16, 1971, and they remained together until her passing in 2016.
Fred found joy in casting a line at his favorite fishing spots, crafting intricate pieces in his woodworking shop, and filling his home with the sounds of country music. He was also an avid reader, especially drawn to western novels, which transported him to the adventures of the past.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his wives Sharon and Marian, and his sisters Gertrude, Violet, Ella, and Edna.
Fred's legacy is carried on by his son, Phillip Wurm, and his granddaughters, Brittany and Megan. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.
