Geraldine Myrtle Alderson

Geraldine Myrtle (Hammond) Alderson, born on December 19, 1926, to John and Mae Hammond, passed away on March 10, 2026, in Hastings, Michigan.

Geraldine attended Hastings High School. She worked as a bookkeeper at Hastings City Bank, where her steady nature and attention to detail were deeply valued.

On February 29, 1952, Geraldine married the love of her life, Wesley James Alderson, and together they shared an extraordinary 66 years of marriage until his passing in 2018. Their life together was filled with devotion, partnership, and a quiet joy that shaped their family for generations.

Geraldine found happiness in the simple, meaningful rhythms of life—golfing on sunny days, sewing with care, square dancing with friends, baking treats for her family, and taking long, peaceful walks.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wesley; and her siblings Amy, Dale, and Gerald. She is survived by her daughter Lynn (Tom) Hartman of Portage; her son Tom (Kim) Alderson of Hastings; grandchildren Joshua (Rachael) Alderson of Byron Center, Tobi (James) Anderson of Portage, Molly (Andy) Keller of Hastings, and Tony Hartman of Portage; great-grandchildren Aubrey, Cole, Carter, Chase, Briggs, and Isabella; and her brother Don (Carolyn) Hammond.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Corewell Health Hospice and Palliative Care and Harvest Pointe for their compassionate care.

A celebration of Geraldine’s life will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 PM at The Legacy at Hastings, 1550 N Broadway, Hastings, MI 49058.
