Harold James Letson passed away on August 8th, 2025, at the age of 87, during a trip to visit family in Michigan.
Harold graduated from Woodland High School, served in the Army, where basic training was in Colorado. It was then he fell in love with the West and the mountains. While in the army, he transferred to the 101st Airborne and was one of the guards stationed at the Little Rock, Arkansas school during the desegregation time.
After being discharged from the Army, he returned to the West, where his entrepreneurial spirit led him to own a furniture business, followed by a flooring store and then a tool company. Harold was also active in Commercial Real Estate in both Arizona and then Colorado.
With retirement came 15 years of RVing across both the US and Canada with his then-wife Mary Lou Letson
Harold eventually settled into Southwest Colorado building his home on 42 acres of mountain property in the town of Bayfield, where he enjoyed hiking the Rocky Mountains, Fishing in the many lakes, and snow skiing during the winter months. He also enjoyed the Arizona climate during the winter.
Harold was preceded in death by his son Andrew Letson as well as his parents Will and Mary Letson, and siblings John, Ralph, and Laura.
He is survived by his daughter Doreen and granddaughter Andrea, both who reside in Arizona, as well as his sister Ardith Knopp and brother-in-law Wayne Knopp, his ex-wife Mary Lou, with whom he considered a partner in life. Many nieces and nephews will also miss him.
