Hazel Amelia Dammen

Hastings - Hazel Amelia Dammen, age 95, passed away on July 3, 2019.

Hazel was born on January 3, 1924 in Edmore, North Dakota, the daughter of Henry and Alma Nelson.  She was a graduate of Edmore High School and Minot College.  On October 28, 1946, Hazel married Elmer Raymond Dammen, and enjoyed 69 years of marriage.  She was a teacher from 1944-1946, a nurses' aide from 1969-1982, and a homemaker.

Hazel enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, gardening, cooking, and feeding friends and family.  She also painted many "ladybug rocks" for special friends.

Hazel is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, daughter and son-in-law Iris Jean (Gary) Monteith, sister Norma Vaule, and brothers Roy Nelson, James (JD) Nelson.

She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Owen, deceased) Jones of Hastings, daughter Alice (John) Halldorson of Midland, Texas, son Todd (Mary) Dammen of Hastings, Michigan, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and her sisters Donna, Lauraine, Alta and Lyla.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Middleville United Methodist Church for display easels and handbell tables.
