Helen M. Miller, age 84, of Hastings passed away on March 24, 2020 at Hastings Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

Helen was born on May 21, 1935 to William (Bill) and Crystal (Huntington) Balduf in Lake Odessa, MI.  She graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1953 and attended Michigan State College in 1954/1955.  On June 23, 1956 she married Floyd Hewitt, which ended in divorce.  They had two children, son – Mark J. Hewitt of Hastings and daughter – Carol S. Allore of Middleville.  On June 8, 1997, Helen married Menifee Miller, who passed away on October 29, 2009.

During her career days, she worked in accounting at Hastings Savings and Loan, Miller Real Estate and retired from Hastings Press in 1998.  She also was a consultant for the Longaberger Basket Company for 15 years and received several awards for sales.  She loved baskets.

She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Lake Odessa since childhood, United Methodist Women group, Alethians Class and enjoyed assisting in various capacities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Menifee, a brother Harold, sisters Marian (Clarence) Miller, June (Jack) McManus, Beatrice (Bert) Faber, Margaret (Willard) Brodbeck.  All five Balduf girls graduated from Lake Odessa High School.

Helen is survived by her son, Mark (Jill) Hewitt, Carol (Ray) Allore, grandchildren, Timothy Frey, Ellen Frey, Matthew Hewitt, Carter Hewitt, Rachael Hewitt and great granddaughter Autumn Frey, two cousins, several nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.

She was a believer that "Laughter is Great Medicine."  Everyone who knew her, knew she had a great sense of humor.  She enjoyed going to her grandchildren's school events, sports of all kinds were her favorite, bowling, Detroit Tiger ball games, cross-stitching, needlework, playing euchre, and of course, dancing several nights each week.

Interment has taken place at Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa with her nephew, Rev. Joseph Spackman officiating the committal.  Arrangements by Girrbach Funeral Home.  To leave an online condolence, visit www.girrbachfuneralhome.net.
