Imogene L. Owen, age 78, of Freeport went home to be with the Lord and her beloved husband on September 15, 2015, at 2:40 in the afternoon at Thornapple Manor in Hastings with her family by her side.
She was born to Jesse S. and Doris W. (Belson) Blough on October 12, 1936 at home in Hastings. She attended school in Freeport and graduated from Freeport High School in 1954. She was a telephone operator for Michigan Bell before raising her children. She married her high school sweetheart, Tom Owen, on June 3, 1956. The thing she valued most in the world was her family; she was the ultimate caregiver and always took care of everyone she loved.
Imogene was preceded in death by the lover of her life, Thomas Owen; both parents; baby sister Donna; brothers Charles, Jack, Ken and Don Blough; several sisters- and brothers-in-law; and granddaughter Staci Harthy. She is survived by sons Tom Owen of Wyoming and Dino (Kim) Owen of Tennessee; daughter Dana (Jeff) Harthy of Middleville; grandson Jesse Owen of Tennessee; granddaughters Amber (Magnus) Benediktsson of Sweden, Nicole Owen of Tennessee, Sam (Kellen) Seeley of Cannonsburg, Sharina Owen of Texas, Ashley (Christopher) Peck of Utah, Cody (Ezra) Hyatt of Tennessee, Tawny Owen of Tennessee, and Stacie Owen of Tennessee; great-grandchildren Gabriel, Neila, Kaylie, and Jackson; brothers Richard Blough of Texas and Hubert Blough of Freeport; sisters Lorraine (Tom) McDonough of Alto and Joan (Ben) Christie of Freeport; sisters-in-law Ardith Blough of Wyoming, Deloris Dipp of Freeport, Valerie Owen of Middleville, and Barbara McKee of California; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Thornapple Manor Life Enrichment program, 2700 Nashville Rd., Hastings, MI 49058.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 6pm - 8 pm at the Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Girrbach Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Freeport Cemetery.
