Also surviving Jack are his sisters, Betty Young, Peggy (Owen) Sult, Barbara (L.D.) Becker, and his brothers, Jim (Joyce) Burchett, Dick Burchett.
Jack attended school in Nashville, Michigan until his family moved to the farm on Bird Road, near Dowling, Michigan when he was 12 years old and then he spent one year in the one room country schoolhouse named Barney Mills before transferring to Hastings where he graduated High School in 1952. Following graduation, he joined the Army and was a member of the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg in South Carolina for 4 years until he was honorably discharged. Following his honorable discharge, Jack purchased acreage on the back of his parent's farm where he built his home. Jack lived in this home his whole life.
Throughout Jack's life he was a faithful Christian and shared his faith generously with his family, friends, the neighbors, and the neighboring communities.
Jack was employed by The Kellogg Company in Battle Creek, Michigan. Once retired, he volunteered with Barry Community Hospice for 20 years. He served as a relief member with patients allowing primary caregivers an opportunity to get away knowing their loved one was receiving kind, dependable, and wise care. Additionally, he assisted with the day-to-day needs in the Hospice Routines.
Jack loved motorcycles and owned several over his lifetime. He traveled most of the lower 48 states and Canada on his Gold-Wing with his wife Hope, and friends. Jack also enjoyed many happy vacations at his place in Dublin, Michigan and often took motorcycles or snowmobiles there to trail-ride with his family and friends.
In his younger years, he owned his own airplane and flew from the "Dowling International Airport" where he had built his own hanger and grass runway strip. He built 2 ultralights in his home workshop and flew them for several years.
Jack stayed close and provided a lot of support for his parents in their later years of life. Jack leaves a rich heritage for others to follow his footsteps in Christianity, kindness, and generosity.
His life was committed to following Jesus as his Lord and Savior, and he looked forward to the time when they would sit side-by-side.
