Janet Faye (Burnes) Longcore, Burgtorf, age 76 of Hastings, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Oakview Adult Foster Care in Hastings.
Janet was born on October 15, 1937 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of Mervin and Doris (Downing) Burns. She graduated from Paw Paw High School in 1956. Janet received her LNP degree in 1959 from a nursing school in Kalamazoo. She married Jack Burgtorf on December 10, 1977.
Janet worked for a Kalamazoo Hospital for a while, caring for pre-mature babies. She retired from Thornapple Manor in Hastings. Janet dedicated her life to helping others. Her hobbies included crocheting and music.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jack Burgtorf.
She is survived by her step-daughter, Lois (Bill) Barber of Middleville, MI, step-grandchildren, Monique (Chris) Eckert of Grand Rapids, Coreen (Jason) Edick of Charlotte, step-great-grandchildren, Anthony and Emily Eckert, Peyton and Kendra Edick and many cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pennock Hospice.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings at 12:00 pm with a visitation period 1 hour prior to service time. Burial will take place at Almena Township Cemetery, Paw Paw, Michigan at 3:30 pm following the funeral service.
