Janet "Jan" Lynne Hurless

Janet "Jan" Lynne Hurless, age 66, passed away on July 6, 2026, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was born on May 13, 1960, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Jackie Dale and Caryl Lynne (Elstrom) Hurless.

A graduate of Hastings High School, Janet was active in 4-H during her younger years. She dedicated over 30 years of her life to working in adult foster care, where her strong work ethic, compassion, and commitment to helping others left a lasting impact on those she served.

In her younger days, Janet enjoyed playing softball, and bowling. In her later years she loved reading, watching cooking shows and Detroit Tigers Baseball. She especially cherished the unconditional love she shared with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved cats, Felix and Lilly.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jackie Dale Hurless, and her brother, Jeffrey Hurless.

Janet is lovingly remembered by her mother, Caryl Lynne Hurless; her daughters, Erica Davis, Nikki Davis, and Tara Baker; her grandchildren, Kaylee Orman, Tanner Orman, Gavin Ruthruff, Aubrey Ruthruff, and Peyton Norton; her great-grandchildren, Daisy Katen and Mason Burch; her brothers, Jerry (Brenda) Hurless and Jackie (Pam) Hurless; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Janet will be remembered for her caring heart, unwavering dedication to her family, and the kindness she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will be treasured always.

Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 12:00pm with visitation one hour prior at 11:00am and a luncheon to follow at Living Waters Church 1302 South Hanover Street, Hastings, Michigan 49058.
