Jean-Paul "Jp" Soucy

Jean-Paul, age 82 of Thonotosassa, FL passed away December 25, 2019 with loved ones by his side. JP was born in Magog, Quebec, Canada May 18, 1937 the son of Marieanne Boivin and Camille Soucy. He grew up on a farm in Compton, Quebec. He attended mechanics school in Montreal and worked as a mechanic from 1964 until 1976 when he changed his career to work in production maintenance.

On July 27, 1963 he married Barbara (Norton) Soucy. JP and Barbara raised their four children in Manchester NH where JP was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and on the board of St. Edmond's church. In 1986, he and Barbara became proprietors of Crescent Campsites in Canaan, NH and maintained the campground until they retired in 2002. Jean-Paul enjoyed camping, hockey, woodcrafts, cutting trees and spending time with his family and beloved pets.

Jean-Paul was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Richard and John Norton.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, his sister Louise Soucy, Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, son Robert Soucy of Concord, NH, daughters Guylaine (Dan) Donavan of Hastings, MI, Gina (Terry) Rogers of Caledonia, MI, and Johanne (Fred) Hrycuna of Hastings, MI, grandchildren, Nicole Soucy, Shannon Soucy, Meagan (Brady) Hill, Adam Donavan, Margeau Donavan, Nichole (Chad) Marsman, Richelle (Dylan) Martinal, Matthew (fiancé Micah VanLaar) Rogers, Patrick Hrycuna, Cory Hrycuna and five great grandchildren. Lillian, Gabriella and Elleana Marsman and Kirsten Donavan and Charles Hill.

Visitation will be at Girrbach Funeral home in Hastings on Saturday, January 11 at 11 am until Noon immediately followed by a service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Salvation Army.
