John William Glasgow, age 55 of Allegan, Michigan.
After a long hard and courageous battle with cancer, John is now on his forever hike in the woods. John was an extremely altruistic person who dedicated his life to helping children, both at the school in Allegan, were he taught as well with his nieces and nephews. His passions were music, travel and hiking. So much so, that once a year, Uncle John would take his nieces and nephews to a National Park to share with them his passion.
John was born on January 26, 1963 in Hastings, Michigan, the son of Duane and Frances (Peacock) Glasgow. He attended Hastings High School and received his Master's Degree in counseling/psychology from Western Michigan University. John taught at Allegan School as a school counselor and teacher, until his retirement.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Louise Glasgow. He is survived by his father Duane (Janet) Glasgow of Hastings, brothers, Robert (Tammy) Glasgow of Hastings, Don (Carrie) Glasgow of Hastings, Jim Glasgow of Midland, Joe Glasgow of Hastings, sister, Mariann Glasgow of Olivet, step-sister, Karla (Mike) Dennis of Gobles, nieces and nephews, Amy (Nick), Matt (Emilie), Nick (Kayla), Ryan, Michael, Tabitha, Natasha and Angela, life long friend and travel companion, Sherry Dixon and her six nieces and nephews.
John was a very compassionate and loyal man, who will be missed by all who were lucky enough to have been impacted by his wisdom and selfless love.
A Memorial Visitation will take place at the Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings on November 24, 2018 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
