Joshua Michael Scobey age 19 of Hastings, passed away unexpectedly October 13, 2013 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Josh was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of the late Michael Scobey and Kristine (Howe) Jacobs. Josh graduated from Hastings High School, class of 2012. He was currently attending WMU College of Engineering.
Josh worked for Cooper Aviation in Fowlerville, Michigan. He was currently employed at the Kent County Airport for American Eagle Airlines. He was a member of Bridles and Bits 4-H Club, Welcome Corners 4-H, and WMU Young Republicans. Josh held a student pilot license. The love of his life was airplanes and flying. He restored his own airplane, inside and out. In his earlier years he showed horses and cows at the fair. Josh won junior showmanship with his horse.
Josh was preceded in death by his father, Michael Scobey, great-grandparents: Leo and Rhea Church, Spencer Scobey, Annetta Townsend , Charles and Elsie Andrus and a cousin , Nathan Scobey.
Josh is survived by his mother, Kristine (Howe) Jacobs of Nashville, brothers: Kody Scobey and Sean Scobey of Hastings, sister, Jordan Thompson of Hastings, grandparents: Steve and Dawn Horton of Fowlerville, MI, Ken and Patty Howe of Temperance, MI, Jim and Ellen (Trink) Scobey of Hastings, MI, great-grandpa, Robert Bartz of Eaton Rapids, MI, Uncle Bradley Horton of Fowlerville, MI, Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Chad Miller of Hastings, Aunt Brenda and Uncle Jimmy Scobey of Abbeyville, Alabama, Aunt Jamie and Uncle Ryan Leslie of Hastings, MI, cousins: Andrew and Travis Matthews, Marissa Poth Miller and Jaxon and Leighton Leslie.
