Keith Findley Taylor, 87, of Hastings, Michigan, passed away September 13, 2025. He was born May 3, 1938, in Sturgis, Michigan, the son of William Edward and Milena "Millie" Taylor. On August 18, 1962, Keith married Deanna Marie Hile.
Keith graduated from Centreville High School in 1956 and earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education, majoring in math and minoring in biology, from Michigan State University in 1961. He completed a master's degree in biology at New Mexico Highlands University in 1964 and later earned teaching certifications in driver's training and construction trades from Western Michigan University.
His teaching career began at Pewamo-Westphalia High School in 1962. The following year, he joined Hastings Public Schools, where he taught math for 23 years and construction trades for 3 years, retiring in 1990. Keith continued to share his skills through residential construction and adult remodeling classes in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee. He loved camping and traveling across the country with his family. He is remembered for his generous spirit, patience, attention to detail, and love of helping people.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Marlin Charles Taylor. Surviving are his wife, Deanna; children, Renee (Walter) Martin of Lansing, Scott Taylor of Hastings, and Suzanne (William) Coonrod of Kent City; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 6–8 PM at Girrbach Funeral Home, 328 S. Broadway, Hastings. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior at Green Street United Methodist Church, 209 W. Green Street, Hastings, followed by a luncheon at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Education Department at Green Street United Methodist Church or to Interim Healthcare and Hospice of West Michigan,1971 E.
