Kreeno O. Dewitt

Kreeno O. DeWitt, age 74 of Hastings passed away Friday, December 5, 2014 at his home.

Kreeno was born on September 21, 1940, the son of Ralph and Aline (Wilkins) DeWitt. He attended Thornapple Kellogg Schools in Middleville.

Kreeno worked his entire life in the construction business. He was a self employed contractor in the latter years of his work. Keeno did window and siding work as well as other types of home repair.
He married Elsie Marie Powers on August 1, 1980.

During his leisure time, Kreeno enjoyed tinkering in his barn with his tools and classic trucks. He had a love for fishing on Lake Michigan and also some of the small inland lakes. Kreeno also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Kreeno was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Aline DeWitt, his first wife, Louise DeWitt, his siblings, Ralph DeWitt Jr., Vernon George DeWitt, Erwin James DeWitt, Oscar J. DeWitt, Sterling Lawrence DeWitt, and his step-children: David J. Burandt and Leonard W. Burandt.

Kreeno is survived by his wife, Marie DeWitt; children: Dennis A. DeWitt, Kreena Kay Tossava, Tina Louise Cullers, and William Scott (Laurie) DeWitt; step-children: Grace Burandt, Sandra (John) Britten, Diane Hammond, John Burandt, Nancy (Lawrence) Reed and Tommy Burandt, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his sister, Mercey (Bob) Erway, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with final expenses.

Visitation and Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings. Visitation from 10 am to 12 pm and the funeral service at noon. Andrew Courtright will officiate the service. A luncheon will follow the funeral service at Thornapple Valley Church. Interment will take place at Hastings Township Cemetery.
