Larene Mary Field, age 86 of Delton, Michigan, passed away on May 17, 2021. Larene was born on May 21, 1934, the daughter of Raymond and Gertrude (Clum) Russell.
Larene was a 1952 graduate of Portland Public Schools. On February 19, 1954, she married Clifford Field, and they enjoyed 60 years together until his death.
Larene was a wonderful mom and great wife. She had many hobbies including carpentry, sewing, art, gardening, dancing, cooking and making crafts. She was fun and a great giver. She would help others live a better life. She taught cooking in 4-H in the 60's. She enjoyed raising chickens and ducks. She was a member of the VFW and liked going to the Methodist church.
Larene grew up on Potters Road in Lowell, Michigan. In 1942, when she was 8 years old, her grandfather died in a fire trying to save someone. When Larene was a baby, she only got to see her mom at Christmas and once in the summer. She slept with and took care of her grandmother her whole childhood until she died when Larene was 19. In the 1980's Larene won the AAA National Cooking Competition in Bay City making her famous peanut butter cookies which she made by rolling out the dough like a pie crust, cutting circles, and placing a Hershey's Kiss in the middle of 2 circles, and using a fork to seal the dough together and then baked them. She was lucky and would win many prizes at the Hastings and Ionia Fair such as a lawn mower, chain saw, diamond necklace, golf clubs, knife set, and lots of other things.
Larene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clifford Field, sister Julia Abel and brother Bob Clum.
She is survived by her daughters Laura (Mike) Marlow and Virginia (Ben) Sincler, grandchildren Chris (Magan) Marlow, Clint Howard, Jill (John) DeGoede, great-grandchildren Ethan DeGoede, Wyatt DeGoede, Dorian Marlow, Gabriella Marlow, Ashlynn Kay Howard, and sister Linda Tuttle.
