Lawrence Barry

Lawrence Duane Barry, age 79, of Woodland, Michigan, passed away on September 22, 2023.

Lawrence was born on October 13, 1943, in Hastings, Michigan, the son of Albert W. and Ruby L. (Royer) Barry.

Lawrence graduated from Woodland High School.  He had many jobs but the most notable were Consumers Energy and the Barry County Road Commission. He retired from the Barry County Road Commission.  Lawrence married Arlene Barry on September 18, 2010 and they enjoyed 13 years together.

Lawrence loved canoeing, golfing, camping, motorcycle riding, and pedal cycling. He loved old cars and tractors.  He loved traveling, especially to Arizona. Lawrence liked trains, especially steam engines.  He also liked beagles, hunting, and photography.  He was an avid hockey fan and liked playing football.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Ruby Barry, sister Mary (Joseph) Ranguette, brothers Roy Barry, Mark (Marsha) Barry, Lee Barry, and Lynn Barry.

He is survived by his wife Arlene Barry, his children Clint (Cheryl) Barry, Vicki (Scott) Shirley, step-son Nicholas (Amanda) Rose, grandchildren Heath Barry, Jessica (Tim) Peck, Ashley Shirley, great-granddaughter Korra Peck, sister Ruby Howell, sister in-laws Greta Barry, Peg Barry, and his first wife and mother of his children Brenda (Baldwin) Hayden.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Girrbach Funeral Home, 328 S Broadway, Hastings, Michigan 49058.  Funeral Service will be Friday, September 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Woodland United Methodist Church, 203 N.
