Lawrence "Larry" F. Lowell

Lawrence "Larry" Lowell, age 100 of Hastings, Michigan passed away peacefully on the morning of January 26, 2015, at Pennock Hospital, Hastings, Michigan. Born March 7, 1914, in a farmhouse in Genesee County, Michigan, Larry was the only son of Fred and Pearle (Farnum) Lowell. He attended Otisville High School, Baker Business University, and Michigan State Normal College, (now Eastern Michigan University) in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Following his education, he taught in a one-room rural school for three years and a two-room rural school for four years in Genesee County. During World War II, he manufactured wooden overseas shipping containers for the military. In 1945 he began a residential construction and land developing company in Genesee County, later in Iosco and Isabella Counties, retiring in 1973. After retirement Larry and Rose moved to Hastings, Michigan to be close to the family. During his time in Barry County he also built and sold several residential homes.

On May 1, 1937, he married Rose Mary Paasch from Ludington, Michigan, who was his best friend and loving partner for over 60 years. Rose preceded Larry in death in 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents, sister (Sarah) and half-brother (Lloyd Atkins).

Surviving is a daughter, Marilyn (Richard) Bachelor of Hubbard Lake, Michigan, three sons, Larry (Natalie) Lowell of Kentwood, Michigan, Terry (Ellen) Lowell of Grand Haven, Michigan, and Ronald Lowell of Hastings, Michigan, nine grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.

Larry enjoyed his family, friends, traveling, woodworking, dancing, old car restoration, and volunteering at Charlton Park, Hastings, Michigan.
