Lawrence Mathew Govert, aged 67, of Bellevue, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2024. He was born on May 3, 1957, in Gary, Indiana, to Lawrence and Margie (VanDike) Govert.

Larry graduated from Washington High School in East Chicago, Indiana, and proudly served his country in the Marine Corps. After his military service, Larry returned to Indiana, began a dedicated career as a craneman at Inland Steel, and later worked yard maintenance at US Steel.

On June 19, 1981, Larry married Sheryl Phillips, and they enjoyed nearly 43 years together. Sheryl survives him, as do their children Tabatha (Lane) Smith, Jason (Corrine) Govert, Amanda (Brandon) Aumann, and Kathleen (Andrew) Rhoades, twelve grandchildren, and siblings Alice (William) Arthur and Jerry Govert.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Patrick Govert.

A man of many interests, Larry was particularly passionate about music. He loved playing the bass guitar, mastering not only the standard 4-string but also the complexities of 12-string basses. His musical talent was a source of personal fulfillment and a way to connect with others. Larry's love for the outdoors was evident in his enthusiasm for fishing and camping, activities that allowed him to appreciate nature's tranquility and share adventures with family and friends.

Larry's personality was a beacon of light; he was friendly and kind, with an innate ability to talk to anyone. His helpful and generous nature was evident to all who knew him. Larry was always willing to lend a hand or offer support to those in need.  Those who knew Larry would describe him as the epitome of kindness, friendliness, and generosity.
