Leon Wesley Smith

Leon W. Smith, age 78 of Middleville, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Hospice Residence in Battle Creek.
Leon was born on April 25, 1936 in Middleville, Michigan the son of Arthur and Rose (Johnson) Smith. He attended Hastings Area Schools.
Leon married Suzette Bishop on May 11, 1958.
In his earlier years, Leon worked with his father at Smith's Refinery Gas Station, he drove school bus for 12 years, worked for E.W. Bliss, and Ward Midwest Products. In 2001 Leon retired as a Journeyman Machine Repairman from Tyden Seal in Hastings.
Leon enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, football and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Orrin Smith of Wayland and special dog, Muffin.
Leon is survived by his wife, Suzette (Bishop) Smith, daughters: Catherine Mead of Nashville, Cheryl Semler of Hastings, Brenda (Scott) Benton of Hastings, son, Gary Smith of Middleville, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and brother, Bruce Smith.
Respecting Leon's wishes, cremation has taken place and
a memorial service will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Barry Community Hospice, 450 Meadow Run Dr., Hastings, Mi 49058
