Leonora (Lee) Yoder (Neff)
age 81, of Hastings, MI passed away peacefully and into the arms of the Lord on Monday, July 18. 2016. Lee was born in Sunfield, MI before marrying and raising her family in Freeport, MI. Outside of the joys her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her, she liked to travel, play cards and bowl. She was a loving housewife and mother for many years but also spent several years working in the Freeport U.S. Post Office and driving rental cars for an agency with her husband (Gordon). Lee and Gordon spent over 20 winters residing in Florida. Her passion was volunteering for multiple organizations including the schools her children attended, The Chums Group in Freeport, Pennock Hospital, Crop Walks and the food truck sponsored by the Freeport United Methodist Church (Where Lee was a longtime member). She had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane; her siblings Walter Neff, Madeline Newman and Larry Neff; her in-laws Elwood and Iris Yoder and Norval and Norma Thaler; and her granddaughter Jessica Gregory. She is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Gordon; her children Terry, MaryAnn (Lou) Karides, Sharon (Marv) Owen and Julie (Matt) Gregory; her siblings Dolores and John Neff; as well as 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place per her wishes. Visitation will be at the Freeport Community Center on Friday, July 22 from 5:00-8:00pm. The memorial service will be on Saturday, July 23 at 11:00am at the Freeport United Methodist Church, with a luncheon following at the Freeport Community Center. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Spectrum Health Foundation Spectrum Health-MC004, 100 Michigan St. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49502-3030, or Freeport UMC Food Truck PO Box 142, Freeport, MI 49325.
