Loraine Marie Barnum, age 63 of Hastings, died on Wednesday January 14, 2009 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, after a courageous battle with cancer.\r
Loraine was born October 3, 1945 in Hastings, Michigan, the daughter of Merle and Opal (Forseth) Rowley. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1963. \r
Her employment was at Ben Franklin in Hastings, the Saxon Drive Inn, Hastings Aluminum Products, Baby Bliss in Middleville, Flex Fab in Hastings, and most recent was 20 years at Saskatoon Golf Course. \r
Loraine had many hobbies, bowling, fishing, crocheting, Knitting, gardening, and motorcycle riding.\r
She married James J. Barnum May 4, 1964. She was a past member of the Women Of The Moose, and the Eastern Star.\r
She was preceded in death by her father, Merle Rowley and a brother, Steven Rowley.\r
Loraine is survived by her husband of 44 years, James Barnum Jr. of Hastings, a daughter, Betty (Randy) Roush, her son, James Barnum III, granddaughters, Shelby and Cheyanne Roush, grandson James Barnum IV, her mother, Opal Rowley, brother, Larry (Judy) Rowley, several nieces and nephews.\r
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6-8pm at the Girrbach Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday January 21, 2009 at 11:00am at the Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings. Pastor Dan Hathaway officiating, burial will be at Fuller Cemetery. Memorials can be made to charity of one's choice or Kent County Hospice.\r
