Mae Louise Blair

February 7, 1929 — January 13, 2023

Mae Louise Blair, age 93, of Hastings, Michigan, passed away on January 13, 2023.

Mae was born on February 7, 1929, the daughter of Margaret Gardner.  She was a 1948 graduate of Hastings High School.

Mae married Charles G. Blair in 1950, and worked for Hastings Manufacturing, and retired from Flexfab.

She was an animal lover with a specific passion for dogs of any shape and size. She loved painting, crafts, dancing and took great pride in caring for her yard, gardens, and landscape.

Most recently while being cared for in assisted living, she decorated nearly 4000 sack supper bags for Kid's Food Basket. She spent many hours creating different designs and characters for the white bags used to provide kids with nourishing evening meals. On any given day, there were piles of them in her room that were finished, in progress or waiting to become one of her works of art.

Mae was preceded in death by her husband Charles (Charlie), and four siblings.

She is survived by her sons Charles Blair Jr., James (Linda) Blair, grandchildren Jay (Kelly) Blair, David (Elizabeth) Blair, Nolan Blair, Great-Grandchildren William, Henry and Penelope.

Memorial Contributions in memory of Mae can be made to Barry County Animal Shelter, 540 N. Industrial Park Drive, Hastings, MI 49058, or Kids Food Basket, https://kidsfoodbasket.org/ (Donate), 1300 Plymouth Avenue NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49505.

A private family service will take place at a later date at the Dowling Cemetery where she will be buried alongside her husband of 40 years.  Arrangements by Girrbach Funeral Home, to leave an online condolence visit www.girrbachfuneralhome.net .
