Marguerite R. Butler age 78 of Hastings, passed away Saturday February 28, 2009.\r
She was born November 29, 1930, the daughter of George M and Luella M. (Smith) Slocum in Johnstown Township, Barry County, Michigan. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1949.\r
Marguerite was married July 20, 1957 to Frederick W. ""Bill"" Butler, and he preceded her in death April 14, 2006, she was also preceded in death by her parents.\r
She was an excellent seamstress and also enjoyed quilting, fine needle work, gardening and her two cats, Katsie and Katie. She had a special fondness for her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Being supportive and involved with their activities, never missing a birthday or a special event in their lives with a card or a call expressing her unconditional love.\r
Marguerite retired from Pennock Hospital, but also worked for Dr.'s Brown and Atkinson and JC Penney's. She enjoyed her time as a volunteer with Hospice, developing new friendships with the people she worked with and with those she was asked to provide comfort to. Our Mother , our loudest cheerleader, will be remembered everyday for the rest of our lives. We love you Mom. \r
She is survived by her children, Richard E. (Deborah) Butler; Melody K. (Garry) Bowman; Thomas M. (Vicki) Butler, grandchildren, Lee; Carrie, Greg, Ryan, Jeremy, Megan, great-grandchildren; Kassidy, Logan, Drew, Lydia, sisters; Joan (Robert) Baines, Gina (Bernie) Blough, a brother Robert (Katie) Slocum, nieces and nephews.\r
Respecting her wishes cremation has taken place and a Memorial service will be held Thursday March 12, 2009 at 11:00am with visitation 1 hour prior to service time at the Girrbach Funeral Home . \r
Memorials can be made to Barry Community Hospice.\r
